Nicoletta Mandriotti is a Peruvian director, writer, dramaturge, producer, choreographer and Italian descendent based in NY. Her work is known for her high psychological intensity, sensorial and philosophical approach, while using artistic forms such as surrealism, ritualism, expressionism, movement and poetry.

In 2016 she moved to NY after receiving a scholarship from Sarah Lawrence College to study an MFA in Theater.

Throughout the pandemic she has been invited to direct eight zoom productions, including “The Cherry Orchard” by Anton Chekhov, which had a special appearance of Austin Pendleton, as well as veteran actors such as Albert Insinnia & Carolyn Groves. She has also served and continues serving as a Writing and Director Advisor for various projects online.

After graduating in 2018 from Sarah Lawrence College she presented her original play, “Girl Inside the Mirror” at Planet Connections Theater Festival, receiving seven Planet Nominations and two Planet Awards: Outstanding Director of a One-Act or Solo Production and Outstanding Overall Production of a One-Act. The piece was also presented at Dream Up Festival 2018 at Theater for the New City receiving critical acclaim.

In 2019, she was invited to be part of the committee of curators for Hear Her Call, Caribbean-American Women’s Theater Festival, presented by Conch Shell Productions & Milton G. Bassin Performing Arts Center, in which she also directed, co-produced and choreographed several productions. One of the pieces she directed and choreographed, “Dark Creature” by Rossely A. Harman, was voted as “Outstanding Playwriting that Inspires Change” Audience Choice Award. The Festival was supported by the Queens Council on the Arts with public funds from the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs in partnership with the City Council. That same year, she was hired by Jose Rivera to served as the assistant director and 1st AD for his project, “The Fall of a Sparrow.”

Prior to moving to NY, she received her BFA in Communications Science and Theater at Pontificia Universidad Catolica del Peru, where she also completed two years of General Studies in Humanities and one year of studies in Dance Theater. During her BFA in Peru, she performed in an adaptation of “Faust” by Goethe, where she interpreted “Gretchen”. The project was presented in two Festivals, FISABES and Saliendo de la Caja, where it won the Best Production award. She also directed “Ghosts” by Henrik Ibsen, and received an invitation to participate at the Festival Saliendo de la Caja. After completing her BFA, she produced several plays for independent companies in Peru and assisted international ones such as Limon Company and Mora Godoy Tango Company during their tours in Peru at the Gran Teatro Nacional.

Her physical and movement training include master classes in Viewpoints and Suzuki at SITI Company with Anne Bogart and Akiko Aizawa, seminars in Laban and Bartenieff movement studies, and masterclasses in Trinity College (Ireland), CELCIT (Argentina) and AADA (NYC).
